Panther baseball opens season 3-0

The Batesburg-Leesville varsity baseball team opened their season with three straight wins over Edisto, Barnwell and Bishop England to close last week in the Comporium Invitational Tournament.  The Panthers were to play a final game in the tournament before traveling to Silver Bluff on Monday for a regular season matchup.  Wednesday the Panthers travel to Swansea before opening up at home Friday against Orangeburg-Wilkinson at 6:00.  Next week the Panthers host Crescent on Tuesday in the region opener before hosting Ninety Six on Friday.  Both of those games are 7:00 starts.


B-L 3, Edisto 0

At Pelion the Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the third as Andrew Kneece led off the inning and was hit by a pitch.  He would steal second and later scored on a single by Mitchell Cobb to right field to make it 1-0.   In the seventh inning B-L would add two insurance runs as Mike Smith singled to leftfield and scored on a double by Cobb.
