Gilbert woman, teen charged with attempted murder

Brandi Ann Strawderman, 20, of Gilbert was arrested and charged July 18 with attempted murder and unlawful possession of a weapon during a violent crime after a shooting on Summers Road Wednesday night, according to Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. She was also charged with violation of terms of probation/parole.

Her minor companion, whose name was not released, was charged with attempted murder and unlawful possession of a handgun.

The victim, who was shot in the back during an encounter with the pair, was treated and released from a hospital Thursday morning, officials said.

In a statement by Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said, that “based on information detectives gathered at the scene,” Ms. Strawderman and her minor co-defendant “conspired… to take property from the victim at his home… Once [he] realized his property was taken, he tried to chase [the pair] to recover his belongings… The victim was shot… during an encounter” with Ms. Strawderman and the minor, according to the sheriff.

She was taken into custody at Lexington County Detention Center, where records indicate she was denied bond. No further information about the minor was provided by the department. And at press time, no further information about the victim had been released.
