James Celeste “Snuke” Cannon

James Celeste Cannon, born April 2, 1931, in Saluda County to the late James “Shine” Cannon and Bessie (Caughman) Cannon.  He entered the heavenly gates on Wednesday July 19, 2017 at the Agape Hospice Care Center in Lexington.  James, was preceded in death by his brother Henry Cannon, Sr. and his 3 children: Joe Ray, Nell and Russell Cannon. During his life, James was a hard-working man, over the years he worked for the Douglas Construction Company and as a farmer for Joe and Walter Shealy.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Sarah M. (Gilree) Cannon of the home and 7 children of Batesburg-Leesville; S. C. (daughters) Jessie M. (Clabie Cecil) Edmond, Peggy L. Hunter, Betty J. McKeiver, and (sons) Steve M. Cannon, James L (Janice) Cannon, Richard O. Cannon, and Lawrence O.(Desiree) Cannon.; 1 sister Linda Dawkins of West Columbia, 5 Sister-n-laws; Janie Gartmon, Eva (Jimmy) McKeiver, Ruth Cannon, all of Batesburg-Leesville, Mary Lee Hall of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Rosa Bell Gilree of Monetta, S.C, his legacy continues with. 29 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and 11 great, great grandchildren, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other sorrowing family & friends.
