Anne Mobley Etheredge

Anne Mobley Etheredge, 71 of Rocky Mount, made her transition to heaven on Thursday, August 24, 2017. She died from complications associated with breast cancer. Anne was born on July 3, 1946, in Englewood, NJ to the late James and Orrie Mobley. She graduated from Twin City High School, and also attended the University of Georgia. In 1964 she married the love of her life and childhood sweetheart, John Etheredge.
She was very active in the community and even at her passing, she was remotely serving on the board of the Rocky Mount-Wilson Regional Airport Authority, and she also served on Boards for Unity Bank, Nash County Business Development Authority, Braswell Memorial Library, and United Community Ministries. Anne was very strong in her faith and was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder and was a Lay Pastor. Because she had a heart for helping everyone, she helped start the Prom Closet at the church that provided prom clothing for those who could not afford to buy an outfit for the prom.
Because of her outstanding sales ability with Allstate Insurance Company she and her husband traveled to many cities in the US and all over the world, and the company also asked her to share her techniques with other agents across the country. She would hold up the bible and say this is my sales manual. For it tells us to “Treat others the same way you want to be treated.”
She is survived by her husband, John of the home. A son, Jonathan Etheredge, of Spartanburg, SC and daughter, Jessica E. Smith (Michael) of Rocky Mount.
Visitation with the family was held on Tuesday, August 29th from 6p – 8p at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, 1912 Sunset Ave., Rocky Mount, NC. The family held a private committal service followed by her celebration of life service on Wednesday, August 30th at 3:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church 153 N Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her honor to the American Cancer Society, or to First Presbyterian Church Rocky Mount.
