Sept. 13: Tools for School: Everyone is invited to the first annual back to school event “Tools for School” workshop event. This event will be held on Wednesday, September 13th from 6 pm-7:30 pm at the Batesburg-Leesville Leisure Center located at 227 Highland Ave. This event will feature members from DJJs Insiders that will be sharing their personal stories in hopes to deter youth from engaging in delinquent behaviors. Sept. 15-17: Belles & Beaus Children’s Consignment Fall/Winter event will be held Friday – Sunday, September 15-17 at Ball Park Rd. gym in Lexington, SC. Times will be: Friday, September 15 9am – 7pm; Saturday, September 16 9am – 6pm; Sunday, September 17 1pm – 5pm.
Sept. 16: Shealy History Reunion 2017: This is the 20th reunion since we began gathering in 1997 to celebrate the Schule family in SC. This year we will meet on Saturday, September 16th at Union Lutheran Church, 4077 Highway 378 near Leesville. The church is about four miles east of the Saluda Traffic Circle towards Lexington. Come from Highway #1 in Lexington, it is about 13 miles west on Highway 378. Meal will be catered by Shealy’s BBQ. Cost will be $18.00 per person and $12.00 for children under 8 years old. This will help the facility and mailing costs. Program and business will start at 10:30 a.m. featuring the Honorable Senator Katrina Shealy speaking on past and present Shealy’s in the political world. Sept. 17: Waters Reunion – The annual JAMES “JIM” and LOUISA KNEECE WATERS family reunion will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the Providence Baptist Church Fellowship Hall located on Pond Branch Road near Leesville, SC. Sept. 30: Mountain Dulcimer Workshop: Have you ever wanted to play a musical instrument but thought it was too late to learn? Now is your opportunity. A Mountain Dulcimer Workshop, sponsored by the Dulcimores of South Carolina, will be presented Saturday, September 30, 2017, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church in Blythewood, SC. It will feature nationally known dulcimer player and instructor, Joe Collins, as special guest teacher and performer. Classes will be held for intermediate/advanced, novice, and beginner players, followed by a free concert featuring Joe Collins. The cost for the workshop is $45 in advance or $50 at the door.
