March 3: The Midland Gospel Singing Center located at 705 Martin Smith Rd. in Gilbert, SC cordially invites everyone to their monthly gospel singing. Guests on March 3, 2018 will be Full Reliance and the Heritage Quartet. Singing begins at 6:00 p.m. A love offering will be accepted and refreshments will be served. March 3: The Southern BBQ Network (SBN) a non-profit organization is holding a certified judges training class on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Dupre’s Restaurant at the State Farmers Market, 322 Little Brook Lane, West Columbia, SC 29172. SBN provides certified BBQ judges to organizations that hold events to raise funds for local charitable causes. The class to become a certified BBQ judge and a member will start at 10 AM to 2 PM with lunch included. The class cost is $ 25.00 and the membership fee is $ 35.00 (you need to be a member to judge). Once you have completed the class you can then start judging at the State BBQ Championship on March 24, 2018 at the State Farmers Market in West Columbia. March 15: ADK Fashion Show: Our annual fashion show will be held at Southern Occasions on March 15, 2018. This year we will be featuring fashions from Mae’s and Boutique 527 of Batesburg-Leesville. Please plan to join us for this fun event! Tickets can be purchased for $ 10 at Mae’s, 527 Boutique, or any ADK member. Proceeds earned from this event will provide scholarships for college-bound students. The Alpha Delta Kappa scholarship winners for 2017-18 will be announced in May. We are working hard this year to provide scholarship winners for the class of 2018.
March 17: W. Wyman King Academy’s 13th Annual Booster Club Auction to be held March 17, 2018. Doors open at 5:00 pm for Silent Auction bidding. Meal to be served at 6:00. Live Auction starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets include admittance to the auction and a full meal provided by Shealy’s BBQ. Tickets can be purchased at the school or by contacting a booster club member. $25.00 for adults. $10.00 for children. Auction will he held at WKA in the gym at 1046 Sardis Road, Batesburg, SC 29006. March 23: Cruisin’ for a Cure Dance: The Batesburg-Leesville Chamber of Commerce & Visitor’s Center and Batesburg-Leesville Relay for Life will host Cruisin’ For A Cure Dance on Friday, March 23rd at T & S Farm beginning at 7:00 PM. Back by popular demand, Heart ‘N’ Soul will provide the music. Tickets are $30 and include hors d’ oeuvres. The Christian Ministry Center, 1408 Summerland Ave., Batesburg. The pantry days and hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9-11:30 a.m. for clients; 8 a.m.-noon for donations. Food and clothes are provided free of charge with an application process. The Christian Ministry Center serves those in need.
