Feb. 15: The Ridge Protection Coalition (RPC) will have their regular monthly meeting Thursday, February 15, 7pm at Cedar Grove Lutheran Church, 1220 Cedar Grove Rd Leesville.Lexington County student studying agriculture.

Feb. 17: Monthly Aiken Depot Jam: Just a monthly reminder that this Saturday, February 17th, the monthly bluegrass jam will be hosted by the Aiken Visitors Center at the Aiken Train Depot from 10:30am to 12:00 noon. Bring your instruments and join in, regardless of your skill level. This is a family friendly jam that is attended by musicians of all ages and lots of listeners. Come out and gather under the shade trees and join us! The jam will be inside the Depot if it’s raining or cold. The address of the Aiken Depot is: 806 Park Ave SE Aiken, SC 29801. Come out and support the local traditional music community!

Feb. 17: ROAST BEEF DINNER: Friends of Post 6740 at Lake Murray Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6740 will host a Roast Beef Dinner on Saturday, February, 17th. Serving will be from 5 pm to 8pm. The cost is $8/regular plate or $12/deluxe plate. A silent auction and 50/50 drawing will be held, too. Dinner will include roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans and dessert. Open to the public and donations will be accepted. Located at 950 Rock N Creek Rd. in Leesville.

Feb. 17: College Goal South Carolina; WHEN: Saturday, February 17, 2018 10:00am – 12:00pm; WHERE: Airport Campus – Academic Center, Rm 116. Get the college financial aid assistance you’re looking for at College Goal SC at the MTC Airport Campus, February 17 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. At this event, you can receive help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the school of your choice. Current and potential students of any college, including seniors from any area high school or adult education program are encouraged to attend. This free community event is sponsored by Midlands Technical College CAREERS and TRiO Programs and the University of South Carolina TRiO Programs.

Feb. 24: The Circle Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Turkey Stew and Bake Sale fundraiser on Saturday, February 24th, 2018 at the Circle Fire Station from 1-3 p.m. Turkey Stew is $7.00 per quart.

Feb. 26: The Lexington County Community Mental Health Center Board of Directors will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, February 26, 2018 at 108 Palmetto Park Blvd., Suite D. Residents of Lexington County are invited.

Feb. 26: Hydrangeas: Monday, 2/26/18 – 6 p.m. – Hydrangeas – What southern garden isn’t complete without a Hydrangea or two or three? Learn how to plant, grow, and prune these magnificent flowering shrubs with the guidance of a Lexington County Master Gardener. Whether you are looking to change the color of the blooms or find the perfect location for these big summer blooming plants, let a Master Gardener share some of Clemson’s research to make your garden the best it can be. Monthly/Weekly Meetings: 

Dream Catchers, the youth committee of the Batesburg-Leesville Chamber of Commerce, meets every first and third Thursday of the month. The meetings are held at the Lexington County Recreation Leisure Center (227 Highland Avenue, Batesburg) from 5:30 – 7:00 PM. We welcome members of the community to join us. Community Christian Fellowship’s Emergency Food Pantry is open by appointment. Food is provided free of charge to those who qualify. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, age or disability. Located near the Traffic Circle. For information, call 892-4179.

The Lexington County Veterans’ Affairs officer, Ed Lundeen, meets veterans, surviving spouses dependents and beneficiaries at the Batesburg-Leesville Branch Library the second Friday of each month from 10 a.m.- noon.

Town of Gilbert welcomes you to visit our Depot Museum the first Sunday of each month from 2-5 p.m. It is located at 333 Hampton Street. Donations are accepted. To schedule appointments, please call 892-2344.

The Christian Ministry Center, 1408 Summerland Ave., Batesburg. The pantry days and hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9-11:30 a.m. for clients; 8 a.m.-noon for donations. Food and clothes are provided free of charge with an application process. The Christian Ministry Center serves those in need.

Operation Reach Out hours: Thrift Store and Emergency Food Pantry, at 519 E. Columbia Ave., open Saturdays from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. We also deliver meals to home bound and have a Thrift Store open to all, no discrimination.

The Alzheimer’s Caregiver’s Support Group of Saluda County will meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month at the Ridge Spring Library at 7:00 PM. Any questions regarding this group contact 803-687-1087.

Support Group for Grandparents raising Grand kids. Monday nights from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Church located at 144 E. Columbia Ave (across from Bojangles’) in Leesville. The Recovery on the Ridge group of Narcotics Anonymous meets each Friday at 7:00 pm at the Ridge Spring Library, Main St. in Ridge Spring.

The Lexington Genealogical Assn. meets on the 2nd Sunday of each month at 3 p.m. at a downstairs conference room at the Lexington County Main Library on US Hwy. 1, east of Lexington. All members are urged to attend. Guests are welcome. Genealogy is an account of the descents of a person, the compilation of a person’s family lines.
