February 11: Little Black Dress Wine & Cheese Affair: The Woman’s Society of Batesburg-Leesville will be hosting their annual “Little Black Dress Wine & Cheese Affair” featuring Red Carpet photos with “Will Ferrell” aka John Hudson; February 11 at the Batesburg-Leesville Leisure Center 227 Highland Ave., Batesburg-Leesville; from 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Tickets are $25.00 each and will include Beverages, Heavy Hors d’oeuvres (Prime- rib carving station, Imported Cheeses, Shrimp & Grits, Dessert & Coffee Bar are just a few foods to be enjoyed), Silent Auction items to include (Weekend in a 3 Bedroom Cabin in Pigeon Forge TN, 4 Michelin Tires, Wine & Cheese Galore Basket, Spa Basket, Auto Care Package, Paintings, and many more great items), Dancing featuring Live Jazz Music provided by “The Swing Set.” This year’s event is certain to become the talk of the town. February 25th: The Circle Volunteer Fire Department will have a Turkey Stew Fundraiser including a delicious Bake Sale on Saturday, February 25th. The stew is $7.00/quart. Serving time is 2-4 pm at the station.

February 19th: Attention BLHS Class of 1973! Katrina “Frye” and Jimmy Shealy are hosting a drop-in for the Class of ’73 at their home from 3 PM until 6 PM Sunday, February 19th. The address is 116 Wilson St., Lexington. All members of the Class of ’73 and teachers along with their plus one should call 803-532-8787 to RSVP. Food, beverages, as well as fellowship will be provided.

February 20: Health Screening: St. John’s Lutheran Church will sponsor a Health Fair, a health awareness program for the community on Monday February 20, 2017 from 7:30 A. M. to 10:00 A. M. in the Parish Building. Everyone who is 18 years of age or older is welcome so please call 892-2765 for an appointment.

February 2: The Ridge Road Community Club will meet Thursday, February 2, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. We will have a program and the February Supper Committee will provide the meal. February 13: A term of General Sessions Court will convene on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in the Saluda County Courthouse with the Honorable Eugene C. Griffith, Jr., presiding. Grand Jurors are to report on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 9:30 a.m.

February 6: The Lexington County Registration and Election Commission will hold their regular monthly Board meeting on Monday February 6, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the Lexington County Voters Registration and Elections Office 605 West Main St, Lexington.

February 11: Cub Scout Pack 29 and Boy Scout Troop 29 will out Scouting for Food for the next two Saturdays. Scout will drop off grocery bags with a flyer Saturday February 4, 2017. You are asked fill the bag with non-perishable foods and leave it on your front porch Saturday February 11, 2017. Scouts will come by to collect the bags around 9:30 am. Food collected will be given to local food banks.

February 18: Rainbow Circle of Nazareth United Methodist Church (2943 Columbia Hwy., Leesville) is sponsoring an all you can eat Pancake and Sausage Supper on Saturday, February 18, 5 to 7 pm, $6.00/person eat in or take out.

Community Christian Fellowship’s Emergency Food Pantry is open by appointment. Food is provided free of charge to those who qualify. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, age or disability. Located near the Traffic Circle. For information, call 892-4179.

The Lexington County Veterans’ Affairs officer, Ed Lundeen, meets veterans, surviving spouses dependents and beneficiaries at the Batesburg-Leesville Branch Library the second Friday of each month from 10 a.m.- noon.

Town of Gilbert welcomes you to visit our Depot Museum the first Sunday of each month from 2-5 p.m. It is located at 333 Hampton Street. Donations are accepted. To schedule appointments, please call 892-2344.

The Christian Ministry Center, 1408 Summerland Ave., Batesburg. The pantry days and hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9-11:30 a.m. for clients; 8 a.m.-noon for donations. Food and clothes are provided free of charge with an application process. The Christian Ministry Center serves those in need.

Operation Reach Out hours: Thrift Store and Emergency Food Pantry, at 519 E. Columbia Ave., open Saturdays from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. We also deliver meals to home bound and have a Thrift Store open to all, no discrimination.

The Alzheimer’s Caregiver’s Support Group of Saluda County will meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month at the Ridge Spring Library at 7:00 PM. Any questions regarding this group contact 803-687-1087.

Support Group for Grandparents raising Grand kids. Monday nights from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Church located at 144 E. Columbia Ave (across from Bojangles’) in Leesville. The Recovery on the Ridge group of Narcotics Anonymous meets each Friday at 7:00 pm at the Ridge Spring Library, Main St. in Ridge Spring.

The Lexington Genealogical Assn. meets on the 2nd Sunday of each month at 3 p.m. at a downstairs conference room at the Lexington County Main Library on US Hwy. 1, east of Lexington. All members are urged to attend. Guests are welcome. Genealogy is an account of the descents of a person, the compilation of a person’s family lines.
