April 7: The 7th Annual Herb festival, “It’s All About Herbs” will take place on Saturday, April 7th, 2018 at the Lexington Museum from 9 am until 3 pm. There is free admission and parking. Herbs and other plants will be available as well as herb related vendors, food, a bake sale and a silent auction. Profits from the sale provide a $2000 scholarship for a Lexington County student studying agriculture.

April 20: The B-L class of 1968 is having its 50th reunion. The classes of 69 and 70 are also invited to help celebrate. The reunion is at T & S Farm on April 20, 2018, 7-11 p.m., $30/person. April 21: Relay for Life Survivor Banquet will be held Saturday, April 21st at 6 pm at Summerland Church across from the B-L High School. Cancer Survivors and 1 caregiver are invited to attend.

April 21: Lexington County Backyard Garden Day Sale – April 21: The Lexington County Solid Waste Management department is hosting a Backyard Garden Day Sale on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at Red Bank Crossing, located at 1070 South Lake Drive, Lexington, SC 29073 (across from the old Piggly Wiggly). Backyard compost bins will be sold for $40 each. Bagged compost and bagged, black mulch with insecticide, both made from clean wood waste, will be sold for $2 per bag. Cash and checks will be accepted. Contact Lexington County’s Solid Waste Management department to pre-order a compost bin. April 21: The Ridge Protection Coalition is cleaning up in Leesville! Please join us on Saturday, April 21st at 9 a.m. for our annual Earth Day Celebration as we clean litter from our roadways. Regular trash removal helps keep our streams and lakes clean. Wildlife can ingest or become trapped in litter. Removal also keeps our roadways safer. It’s easy! We will provide all the supplies you need. A couple hours of light work with folks like you who care about our environment and you will be energized as you see the change YOU made! April 23: The Lexington County Community Mental Health Center Board of Directors will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2018 at 108 Palmetto Park Blvd., Suite D. Residents of Lexington County are invited.

April 24: The General Paul Quattlebaum Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans will hold their monthly meeting on April 24, 2018 at Shealy’s Bar-B-Que at 7:00 p.m. There will be a program followed by a business meeting. April 28: The annual reunion of the Curtis and Sally Temples family will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Sardis Community Center. We will eat at noon so arrive early enough to visit with one another. We look forward to seeing all our family with us.

April 28: Car Wash to be held April 28th, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at Lake Murray Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6740, 950 Rock N Creek Road, Leesville. This car wash is sponsored by the Batesburg Office of BB&T and their employees. NO CHARGE FOR VETERANS. All others $5.00—Donations Accepted. Bring your clean empty aluminum cans for recycling.

The Lexington County Veterans’ Affairs officer, Ed Lundeen, meets veterans, surviving spouses dependents and beneficiaries at the Batesburg-Leesville Branch Library the second Friday of each month from 10 a.m.- noon.

Town of Gilbert welcomes you to visit our Depot Museum the first Sunday of each month from 2-5 p.m. It is located at 333 Hampton Street. Donations are accepted. To schedule appointments, please call 892-2344.

The Christian Ministry Center, 1408 Summerland Ave., Batesburg. The pantry days and hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 9-11:30 a.m. for clients; 8 a.m.-noon for donations. Food and clothes are provided free of charge with an application process. The Christian Ministry Center serves those in need.

Operation Reach Out hours: Thrift Store and Emergency Food Pantry, at 519 E. Columbia Ave., open Saturdays from 10 a.m.- 2
p.m. We also deliver meals to home bound and have a Thrift Store open to all, no discrimination.

The Alzheimer’s Caregiver’s Support Group of Saluda County will meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month at the Ridge Spring Library at 7:00 PM. Any questions regarding this group contact 803-687-1087.
