Lexington 3 School Board to consider ‘Tobacco-Free District’

 

The Lexington County School District Three Board of Trustees will consider first reading of three district policies regarding tobacco use on and around Batesburg-Leesville schools during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday night (August 13).

The School Board is scheduled meet at 7 p.m. at the District Office, located at 338 W. Columbia Avenue. The full meeting agenda is available for public review prior to the meeting at www.lex3.org.

Three action items relating to tobacco use are on the published agenda, released Monday afternoon:

  • first reading of a “new” policy titled “Tobacco Free School District”;
  • first reading of a policy addressing a “Tobacco Free Workplace”; and
  • first reading of a policy addressing “Tobacco Use by Students.”

In addition to the tobacco-related items, the Lexington Three School Board is scheduled to receive a “Comprehensive Facilities Report” from representatives of Thompson Turner Construction and Jumper Carter Sease Architects.

The public is encouraged to attend and participate in the governance of your public schools by your elected School Board members.
