Attempted murder suspects captured

Batesburg-Leesville, S.C. (May 10, 2018) – On May 4, 2018, two armed suspects opened fire into a crowd of people on West Church Street in Batesburg. During the investigation, the two suspects were identified as Trevor Devon Morris (18) and Tavis Jeavez Werts (25).

Detectives issued warrants for both Morris and Werts for seven counts of Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime. This incident placed many lives in danger, including children.

In the early morning hours of May 9, 2018, officers from our department, working with SLED Fugitive Task Force, were able to locate and arrest Morris and Werts in Allendale without incident. At the bond hearing, bond was denied for both Morris and Werts.
